“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Peter Drucker
I have always liked this quote because it reminds me that tomorrow is shaped by what we choose to do today. Opportunities rarely appear on their own. They are created through decisions, consistency and the courage to keep moving forward, even when the road bends.
The past few days have been good.
The sun has been shining, the warmth feels wonderful on my skin, and having a hand to hold somehow makes everything feel a little lighter. Life has a way of reminding us that happiness is often found in the small moments rather than the big milestones.
This morning started with a walk along Aker Brygge. The Oslo Fjord was calm, the city was slowly waking up, and for a little while it felt as if time slowed down. Those moments are important. They remind us why we work so hard in the first place.
Building something that lasts
The past weeks have also been filled with another kind of journey.
Together we have been renovating the new offices of Valhalla Capital Fund Management. We are not quite finished yet, but the finish line is finally within sight.
Valhalla Capital Fund Management is an alternative investment fund manager focused on creating long term value through disciplined investment management, strong governance and professional capital allocation. More importantly, it is built around relationships, trust and a long term perspective rather than short term trends.
As I have watched the office come together piece by piece, I have realized that building a company is not so different from renovating a space.
You rarely see the finished result on day one.
You build one wall.
One meeting room.
One relationship.
One decision at a time.
Eventually, everything starts to fit together.
A market full of opportunities
Many people ask whether this is a good time to invest.
The truth is that uncertainty often creates opportunity.
Norway continues to have strong entrepreneurs, innovative companies and family owned businesses with solid foundations. At the same time, many businesses are entering periods of generational change, ownership transitions or seeking growth capital. These developments create opportunities for investors who are patient, selective and focused on long term value rather than short term market movements.
The best investments are rarely discovered by following the crowd. They are often found by looking where others have not yet started looking.
Live in the curve
Lately I have been thinking about something very simple.
Do not live after the curve.
Live in the curve.
Life is not decided once the road becomes straight again.
It is decided while you are still turning.
The curve is where we adjust.
The curve is where we make difficult decisions.
The curve is where we stay focused when the destination is not yet visible.
That is true in business.
It is true in investing.
And it is just as true in life.
Many people wait until everything feels safe before they move.
But by then, someone else has already taken the opportunity.
The people who create change are those who are willing to work while the road is still uncertain.
They keep both hands on the wheel.
They trust the process.
And they continue moving forward.
A reminder to myself
I have learned that life will never be completely predictable.
There will always be unexpected turns.
What matters is not avoiding the curve.
It is learning how to drive through it with confidence.
Because that is where growth happens.
That is where resilience is built.
And that is where tomorrow quietly begins.
Fun fact
Did you know that many of the world’s most successful investment funds evaluate opportunities over several years rather than several months? Long term discipline has consistently proven to be one of the strongest competitive advantages in professional fund management.
Thank you for stopping by.
Keep building.
Keep believing.
And remember…
Do not wait until the road is straight. Build your future while you are still in the curve.
Bubble hugs,
Nordè
