TO LIV – A Strong & Honest Talk on Mental Health

TO LIV – A Strong & Honest Talk on Mental Health

Today feels important.
To Liv is officially out with our mental health talk. And this is not just another lecture.
It is strong. It is honest. It is real.
We are speaking about what many think about but few dare to say out loud.

This Is Not Theory

This talk is built on lived experience. On caregiving. On love. On exhaustion. On resilience. On the invisible weight so many carry quietly.
To Liv Foundation was created from a deeply personal journey. From standing in the middle of life when it shakes you. From navigating illness, uncertainty, responsibility, and still choosing hope.
We speak about:
• The strength in vulnerability
• The reality of mental overload
• Caregiver fatigue
• Identity loss
• Resilience under pressure
• And the courage it takes to keep going
Nothing is polished. Nothing is filtered.

The Room Gets Quiet

When we speak, something happens in the room.
People recognize themselves in the story.
Parents. Young people. Leaders. Caregivers. Professionals.
You can feel the shift. Shoulders drop. Eyes soften.
Because someone finally says what they have been carrying alone.

Why This Matters

Mental health is not a trend. It is not a buzzword.
It is everyday life.
It is the silent battles.
It is the strength no one applauds.
To Liv is about breaking stigma. About building conversations that are not surface level. About reminding people that it is ok to not be ok.
And that asking for help is not weakness. It is awareness.

From Story to Action

This is not just a talk. It is a movement.
We are connecting with schools. Businesses. Organizations. Communities. Across borders.
Because mental health belongs everywhere. Not just in crisis. But in leadership. In workplaces. In families.

Standing in It

This is one of the most vulnerable things WE have ever done.
But it is also one of the strongest.
Because healing begins with honesty.
And change begins with courage.
To Liv is out there now.
And this is only the beginning.

About To Liv Foundament

To Liv Foundament is a global initiative dedicated to mental health in all its forms, founded from a deeply personal place. Inspired by Tonje Emilie Marhaug Bjørnerud’s experiences as a mother and caregiver to her seriously ill daughter, To Liv (Mother and Daughter) reflects the bond, love, and resilience that comes from facing life’s toughest challenges together. The initiative was born from the desire to share their journey, offer support, and provide a voice for families and individuals navigating serious illness, mental health struggles, and the complexities of care-giving.

At its core, To Liv believes it is completely okay to feel different, to not always fit in, and to face vulnerability. We work across borders to raise awareness, hold inspiring talks, and make ourselves available for open, honest conversations about the realities of life, whether it’s living with serious illness, supporting loved ones, or navigating the wide spectrum of mental health challenges.

To Liv travels globally, often collaborating with well-known personalities and celebrities to engage with youth and communities. Through these initiatives, we emphasize that when society stands together, the possibilities are endless. We inspire young people, parents, caregivers, and communities to embrace openness, understanding, and compassion, showing that resilience, courage, and hope are possible even in the hardest moments.

Our mission is to break stigma and silence, bringing light to every part of the mental health journey, from struggle to resilience, from vulnerability to strength. Through openness, shared stories, and heartfelt connection, To Liv empowers people to embrace healing, courage, and authentic connection.

We welcome collaboration and engagement from schools, organizations, media, and individuals who share our vision. Anyone interested in hosting talks, workshops, events, or discussions about mental health or in exploring ways to support our initiatives, can reach out to us directly.

Amalie Marhaug

Amalie, my daughter, is living with Friedrich Ataxia and is the driving force behind the To Liv Foundation. Her courage, resilience, and determination have been the heart of our mission from the very beginning. We have worked closely together on mental health initiatives, and her dedication and strength continue to inspire everyone around her.

Amalie’s story reminds us that even in the face of serious challenges, one can create impact, foster hope, and bring people together. Through her example, she shows that vulnerability is not weakness, but a source of connection, empathy, and transformative change.

Supporting Women in Crisis

At To Liv Foundation, we believe that every woman deserves safety, dignity, support, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Throughout my life, I have learned that true strength is not about avoiding challenges. It is about finding the courage to rise, rebuild, and move forward despite them. As a mother, entrepreneur, advocate, and woman who has faced both personal and professional adversity, I understand how important hope, support, and opportunity can be during life’s most difficult moments.

Across the world, countless women face domestic violence, emotional abuse, financial hardship, homelessness, human trafficking, discrimination, and mental health challenges. Too many women find themselves isolated and without access to the resources they need to create a better future.

That is why To Liv Foundation is committed to supporting women in crisis. Through partnerships, education, mentoring, counseling, community programs, and emergency support initiatives, we strive to help women regain confidence, independence, and stability.

We are dedicated to creating safe spaces where women feel seen, heard, respected, and empowered. By connecting women with practical resources, professional guidance, and supportive networks, we help transform hardship into hope and challenges into opportunities.

We believe that when a woman is empowered, families become stronger, communities thrive, and future generations benefit. Our mission extends beyond immediate support. We are committed to creating lasting opportunities that enable women to live fulfilling, independent, and meaningful lives.

My vision is a world where no woman feels alone, where every woman recognizes her worth, and where compassion is transformed into action.

Together, we can restore dignity, create hope, and change lives.

Why Mental Health Matters

Mental health is not an individual challenge.
It is a societal and global responsibility.

At To Liv, we see mental health as the foundation of human potential, social stability, and sustainable development. When mental wellbeing is overlooked, the consequences ripple through families, communities, organizations, and entire societies.
Mental health is not only about healing what is broken.
It is about strengthening what makes us human.

The Power of Early Action

Most mental health challenges develop gradually. They often begin long before they are recognized.

Stress, isolation, uncertainty, and emotional strain accumulate silently. By the time they become visible, the personal and societal costs are already high.
To Liv promotes a shift from reaction to prevention.
By identifying challenges early and providing timely support, we can:

  • reduce long-term suffering
  • strengthen resilience
  • unlock human potential
  • create healthier communities

Early action is not only compassionate.
It is strategic.

Mental Health in a Global Ecosystem

Mental health is shaped by global forces:

  • technological acceleration
  • economic and social inequality
  • climate and environmental change
  • migration and cultural transformation
  • digital lifestyles and social fragmentation

These forces cross borders.

Therefore, solutions must do the same.
To Liv views mental health as part of a global ecosystem, where local realities and global dynamics are deeply connected. Sustainable solutions emerge when knowledge, culture, and innovation are shared across regions and sectors.

Collaboration Across Borders and Sectors

No single organization can solve the mental health challenge alone.

To Liv builds partnerships with:

  • NGOs and foundations
  • educational institutions
  • healthcare systems
  • governments and municipalities
  • social enterprises and startups
  • private companies and global networks

By connecting actors across disciplines and geographies, we create integrated models that combine human insight with systemic impact.

Collaboration is not optional.
It is the key to sustainable change.

Working Smart: Building Integrated Solutions

Traditional mental health systems are often reactive and fragmented.

To Liv focuses on smarter approaches:

  • prevention-based models
  • community-driven initiatives
  • digital tools combined with human connection
  • data-informed decision-making
  • scalable and adaptable frameworks

We do not build isolated projects.
We build ecosystems.

Ecosystems where mental health is embedded in education, work, culture, technology, and social innovation.

Our Vision: A Shared Future

To Liv envisions a world where mental wellbeing is nurtured as carefully as the systems that sustain life itself.

A world where:
People are supported early, before challenges take root.
Wellbeing is integrated into everyday life, not separated from it.
Collaboration across borders replaces isolated efforts.
Human development and environmental responsibility evolve side by side.
We believe that healthy minds and healthy systems are deeply interconnected.
Mental health is not a cost.
It is an investment in long-term resilience, human, social, and global.

To Liv exists to connect lives, strengthen roots, and create sustainable impact across communities and cultures.
Because when we cultivate inner resilience, we also strengthen the foundations of the world around us.
