Today has been a long day.

One of those days where you feel everything you have done, not only in your mind, but in every part of your body.

There is something incredibly special about building something completely from scratch.

Knowing every corner.
Every wall.
Every piece of trim.
Every screw.

You remember where everything came from, why it was placed there and how many decisions were made before it finally became part of the finished result.

When you create something yourself, ownership begins long before the papers are signed or the doors are opened.
Ownership is built through effort.
Through responsibility.
Through the hours nobody sees.
Through all the small choices that slowly turn an empty space into something with identity, purpose and soul.

And honestly, that feeling is difficult to explain.

But those of you who have created something with your own hands will understand exactly what I mean.

The Feeling Of Creating

Things are beginning to take shape now.

Slowly, but surely.
And watching something that once existed only as an idea become real in front of you creates a feeling unlike anything else.

It is pride, but not the loud kind.
It is a quiet feeling.

A deep sense of knowing that you stayed when things became difficult.
That you continued when your body was tired.
That you found solutions when nothing went according to plan.

Perhaps that is one of the best feelings I know.
The feeling of creating something that did not exist before.

Something carrying your thoughts, your energy and your fingerprints.
Something that tells a story without needing to explain itself.

The Price Of Building

Building something costs more than money.

It costs time.
Energy.
Sleep.
Patience.

And sometimes a little piece of your sanity too.
Long days become part of the process and eventually the body begins reminding you that even ambition needs rest.

Today I can feel it.
In my shoulders.
In my back.
In my mind.

So now I am sitting here, allowing myself a small pause.

A moment to breathe.

Because resting does not mean that the work has stopped.
Sometimes rest is simply part of continuing.
Even the strongest structures need support.

And so do we.

Oslo Energy And Coming Home

Oslo is always moving.
People rushing through streets.
Cars, meetings, conversations, construction, music and endless activity.

The city has its own pulse.
And I enjoy that energy.

I enjoy being surrounded by movement, new ideas and people creating their own paths.
But after a long day in the city, it is always good to return home to what I jokingly call “the holiday.”

The quieter surroundings.
The slower rhythm.
The feeling of being able to breathe a little deeper again.
I will not pretend otherwise.

I love the contrast.
The city gives me energy.
Home gives me peace.

And perhaps we need both.
But life changes quickly.

One new opportunity.
One unexpected meeting.
One turn in the road.

And suddenly everything looks different.

Who knows what is waiting around the next corner?

A City Adventure With My Little Office Companion

Today also included a memorable walk with my little companion.

He “the dog” is one and a half years old and belongs to my eldest daughter, but he has slowly become my loyal office friend.

He follows me through the working day, keeps an eye on everything happening and seems perfectly satisfied with his new professional responsibilities.

He enjoys the office life.
The attention.
The activity.

And of course, the possibility of finding something he absolutely should not touch.

During today’s walk through the city, he met two young ladies.
Apparently, this was all very exciting.
-So exciting, in fact, that he suddenly threw himself onto the ground and began rolling enthusiastically in every imaginable kind of dirt.

To my great despair.
By the time we returned to the office, nobody quite understood what had happened to us.

We had only taken a small walk through the city, but it looked as though we had travelled through fields, forests, mud and possibly an entire farming season.

There he stood.
Extremely satisfied with himself.
While I was left trying to explain the situation.

Well.
That is life with animals.

Elegant plans can disappear in seconds when nature calls.

Building Creates Ownership

There is a difference between owning something and feeling ownership.

You can purchase a finished space and appreciate it.
But when you have been part of every decision, every challenge and every solution, the connection becomes different.

You do not simply see a room.
You see the hours behind it.
You remember the problems that needed solving.
You notice details others may never see.

And perhaps that is why we often value the things we create ourselves so deeply.
They carry more than material value.

They carry memory.
Effort.
Emotion.

And proof that we were capable of creating something real.

A New Industry And A New Turn

And then it is back to life.
Back to the present moment.

A new industry.
New surroundings.
New people.
New knowledge.
And new possibilities.

I am standing in the middle of another turn in the road.
Not completely knowing where it will lead, but knowing that I am exactly where I am supposed to be right now.
Sometimes the most important chapters begin before we fully understand what they are becoming.

We simply have to walk into them.

Learn.

Observe.

Work.

Trust ourselves.

And allow the road to unfold.

I am tired.
My body can feel the long days.
But beneath the tiredness, there is something else.

Gratitude.

Excitement.

And the quiet satisfaction of knowing that things are taking shape.

And here, in the middle of everything new, I am happy.
I belong here.

Life Is Always Under Construction

Perhaps life itself is a little like building a room.

First, there is only an idea.
Then comes the planning.
The uncertainty.
The mistakes.
The adjustments.
The long days when the finished result feels impossibly far away.

But slowly, one small piece at a time, everything begins to connect.
And one day you look around and realise that the place you are standing in was once only something you imagined.
That is the beauty of creating.

We do not always see progress while we are standing in the middle of the work.
But progress is still happening.

Quietly.
Piece by piece.

Screw by screw.
Choice by choice.

A Quote To Remember

As Henry Ford once said,
“Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs.”

And perhaps that applies to almost everything in life.
Large dreams can feel overwhelming.
But one task becomes manageable.

Then another.
And suddenly, what once seemed impossible begins taking form.

Fun Fact

People often develop a stronger emotional connection to things they have helped create themselves.

The time, effort and problem-solving involved make the finished result feel more valuable because it carries part of the creator’s personal story.
Perhaps that is why handmade objects, renovated homes and founder-built businesses often mean so much more than their financial value alone.

We do not only see what something is.
We remember what it took to create it.

A Personal Motto From Nordè

Build patiently, learn every detail, take pride in the work nobody sees and remember that true ownership begins the moment you choose to take responsibility for creating something yourself.
