The Day That Refused to Be Quiet
Today was supposed to begin slowly.
It was one of those mornings where the sky was completely blue, the sun was shining like summer had decided to stay, and my whole body wanted only one thing. To lie in the garden, feel the warmth, breathe a little, and let the day move softly.
But some days do not ask what we had planned.
They simply arrive with their own energy.
Early in the morning, I got in touch with a seamstress. Then, almost at the same time, I remembered that I was going to be “taxi mum.” That little expression many mothers and fathers know so well. The job that does not come with an official title, but still somehow includes driving, remembering, carrying, solving, helping, answering, delivering and showing up.
So I had to move quickly.
Into the car I went, trying to remember all the dresses that needed to come with me, while my thoughts were already running ahead of the day. The sun was outside, the garden was waiting, but the to do list had other plans.
Dresses, Deliveries and a Phone That Would Not Stop
The hours that followed became a little like standing in the middle of a small whirlwind.
The phone kept ringing. Again and again. It almost felt like it turned red from all the calls.
Then two new deliveries came in.
Suddenly there were more things to coordinate, more things to remember, more places to be, and more pieces that had to fall into place before the Mrs. Globe final.
And still, in the middle of all of it, I felt grateful.
Because today I also met people who really stepped up. Fantastic people who threw themselves around, helped, fixed, supported and made things possible. I will come back to them properly, because people like that deserve to be seen.
There is something beautiful about those who do not just say “good luck,” but actually help you carry the day.
Little Café Moment in the Sun
When the working part of the day was finally done, I thought maybe now I could land a little.
Then my eldest daughter wanted to go to a café.
And honestly, that became one of the loveliest parts of the whole day.
We found a table in the sun, sat down, and for a moment everything slowed. The ringing phone, the dresses, the deliveries, the lists, the rush. It all moved into the background.
There we were.
Mother and daughter.
Sun on our faces.
A small pause in a full day.
Those moments are not always loud. They do not need big plans or perfect timing. Sometimes they are just a table, a smile, a conversation, and the feeling of being together.
And that is enough.
When Life Becomes an Adventure
Helen Keller once said:
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
I love that thought.
Because today was not calm. It was not perfectly organised. It was not the quiet garden day I had imagined when I woke up.
But it was alive.
It had movement, people, love, family, responsibility, surprises, emotion and sunshine. It had the kind of beautiful chaos that often becomes life itself.
And sometimes, maybe that is what we are supposed to do.
Not wait for everything to be calm.
Not wait for perfect timing.
But step into the adventure anyway.
Train Station, Garden Dinner and a Sudden Reminder
After the café, we had visitors to pick up from the train.
Then finally, we came home.
Dinner in the garden felt like the soft landing the day had been promising me since morning. The sun was still there, the family gathered, food was served outside, and for a little while I could feel the day changing pace.
Then suddenly it hit me.
Shitt.
The new radio programme was going out.
I knew it, of course I knew it, but the day had moved so fast that time almost disappeared between everything else.
Skydive Into It
Today’s radio episode is called Skydive Into It.
For some, I think it may feel a little emotional.
The episode is about my daughter, who uses a wheelchair, and about her illness. It is about our life, about strength, about vulnerability, about fear, about love, and about the reality many people do not see from the outside.
When you love someone who lives with illness, life becomes full of contrasts.
There can be laughter and worry in the same room.
Strength and exhaustion in the same day.
Hope and fear sitting at the same table.
And still, life moves forward.
Not always in the way we planned, but often with more depth, more meaning and more love than we could ever explain.
Please listen if you have the opportunity. In the next programme, my daughter will also join me, and she will teach us more about how her everyday life really is.
I think that is important.
Because we can all learn from listening more deeply.
A Fun Fact About Skydiving
Since the episode is called Skydive Into It, here is a little skydiving fact that I think is both fun and fascinating.
A skydiver falling belly first through the air can reach an average speed of about 120 miles per hour, which is around 193 kilometres per hour.
But the fun part is this.
Skydivers can actually change how fast they fall by changing the position of their body.
By spreading out, they create more air resistance and slow down. By becoming more streamlined, they can fall faster.
So in the sky, the body becomes part of the steering.
I think that is such a beautiful image.
Because life can feel like free fall sometimes. The phone rings, plans change, emotions rise, time disappears, and suddenly you are in the middle of everything at once.
But maybe we are not as powerless as we think.
Maybe we can adjust.
Maybe we can breathe.
Maybe we can soften the fall.
Maybe we can learn to trust ourselves in the air.
Family, Cards and a Soft Ending
The rest of the evening will be for card games and family time.
After a day filled with dresses, driving, phone calls, deliveries, sunshine, café time, visitors, dinner in the garden and an emotional radio episode, that feels like the perfect ending.
Not everything went according to plan today.
Actually, very little did.
But maybe that is why the day became so full.
Full of life.
Full of love.
Full of reminders.
The garden had to wait, but the day still gave me sunshine.
Just in a different way.
Motto from Nordè
You do not always need a calm day to find peace. Sometimes you only need to adjust your wings and trust that you can land softly.
