Finally. The journey had begun.
Day 1 started in Oslo, where I boarded my SAS flight to Los Angeles. I had prepared myself for a long trip, but somehow the hours in the air passed faster than expected. Maybe it was the excitement. Maybe it was the feeling of finally being on my way. Or maybe it was simply the magic of knowing that Mrs. Globe was waiting on the other side of the world.
Already on the flight, I received so much warmth and attention. Several people noticed where I was going, and even the crew made the journey feel special. There is something beautiful about being seen before you even arrive.
After many hours in the sky, we finally landed in Los Angeles.
Then came passport control.
I was tired, carrying all my luggage, and probably looking like I was moving my entire life to California. One suitcase after another appeared on the belt. Dresses, pageant pieces, shoes, beauty essentials, and everything a queen might need for an international final. It truly looked like I was relocating.
At passport control, something very sweet happened. When they understood I was heading to the Mrs. Globe final, they wished me good luck and helped me quickly through. It was such a small moment, but after a long journey, it felt like a warm welcome to America.
Then I rushed out of the terminal.
And then came the challenge.
There were no regular taxis that could come directly to the terminal. Only black taxis. I stood there with all my luggage, slightly confused, slightly exhausted, and very ready to get to Palm Springs.
Then, out of nowhere, a Norwegian man spotted me. And not just any Norwegian. He was from far up north, just like me. He had moved to the United States with his wife, and he gave me the best travel trick of the day.
He told me to take a black taxi from the terminal to the nearest hotel, and from there order an Uber to Palm Springs.
So that was the plan.
But just as I was ready to do exactly that, a black taxi arrived. The driver was incredibly kind, and after a short conversation, he offered me a price all the way to Palm Springs that I simply could not refuse.
And just like that, I was suddenly on my way through California in a very fancy car, with all my suitcases beside me and Mrs. Globe ahead of me.
Hours later, I arrived at the beautiful Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas in Palm Springs, where Mrs. Globe was being held. It felt elegant, warm, and full of that special pageant energy. The kind of place where you instantly understand that something unforgettable is about to happen.
I was already late for dinner.
In fact, I had barely stepped out of the car before my beautiful roommate came to get me. She helped me check in, we went straight to the room, and I had just enough time to jump into a dress, freshen up my makeup, and hurry to dinner.
By the time I arrived, dinner was almost over.
But I had made it.
After being awake for almost 28 hours, I was more than ready to crawl into bed. Tired, grateful, overwhelmed, and happy. My first day had been long, chaotic, glamorous, and completely unforgettable.
I went to sleep with a full heart, excited for what the next day would bring.
